VANCOUVER

Is home to some of the most breathtaking natural scenery in the world.
Towering Snowcapped Mountains rise high above the city,
adorned by ancient forests that tumble in evergreen splendour
toward the sparkling blue Pacific. And spreading inland
from the coast is a sophisticated, cosmopolitan city so clean
and beautiful it's as if it grew there as part of mother nature's master plan.

The Greater Vancouver region comprises a number of communities
to the north, east and south of downtown. It's a region that offers
many exciting discoveries, including the verdant farmlands of
Delta and Langley, and the rocky peaks, sandy coves and
waterfront parks of North and West Vancouver.

BOEING MUSEUM OF FLIGHT --

Featuring 54 of the world's most awe-inspiring airplanes-authentic and in mint condition.
In the steel and glass Great Gallery,  the history of aviation soars past,
with dozens of full-size aircraft flying in formation six stories above.
Walk within inches of the amazing Blackbird spy plane or board America's
first presidential jet-the original Air Force One. Watch prop planes and
jumbo jets come and go at Boeing Field from our hands-on air traffic
control tower exhibit. Step back 80 years in the magnificently restored "Red Barn,"
birthplace of The Boeing Company.

In 1964 a small group of aviation enthusiasts realized  that important artifacts
representing the evolution of flight were being lost or destroyed at an incredible rate.
To aid in the preservation of these artifacts, the Pacific Northwest Aviation Historical Foundation
was established with the twin goals of saving significant aircraft and related artifacts
and educating the public in terms of their importance.

Its soon became clear that a place to store and exhibit these artifacts was needed,
and in 1968 the first official Museum of Flight exhibits were put on display in a
10,000-square-foot space at the Seattle Center. The exhibits remained
there until 1979 while plans were being made for a permanent Museum of Flight.
